Myers worked as a therapist before he went into coffee, a 2015 CUESA profile reported. In that profile he said the house style develops body, the weight of the coffee in your mouth, at some cost to the brightest acidity, and that the roasters rely on their senses as much as on temperature probes and data.

Highwire's blog, the Roastery Log, covers small releases. In 2023 it roasted a single batch from Elijah, a farmer on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Uganda, who used anaerobic fermentation: he fermented the coffee in sealed, oxygen-free tanks. The same year it roasted a small lot from Benjamin Paz, a Honduran producer in the Santa Barbara mountains who shares small lots with roasters that supported him.
