A certified Q Grader leads the roasting. Q Graders are tasters certified by the Coffee Quality Institute to score coffee on a 100-point scale. After roasting, the company packs the beans within minutes, its story page says.

In June 2026 Heirloom launched a program it calls Clean Craft. Under it, third-party labs test samples three times: at origin, at the Port of Oakland and again periodically after roasting. Each bag carries a QR code that links to the lab results for its lot.

Regenerative Organic Certified is a standard from the nonprofit Regenerative Organic Alliance covering soil health, animal welfare and farmworker fairness. A coffee must already hold USDA Organic certification, or an approved international equivalent, before it can earn the seal. See more certified coffees on our organic coffee page.
